Game #1

What a great way to start the inception of the Phantoms off with. We dominated both ends of the ice. I was most impressed with the play of the defense. The guys that really stick out in my mind were Stew "Timex" Lee, Rob "Doc" Tannen and Ray "Bourque" Church. One more then one occasion Rob kept the puck in the offensive zone helping to keep pressure on Wharton. Stew baby..well what can you say the guy took 27 of the 36 shots : ). Be aware guys he is starting to look pretty comfortable out there! Ray embodies the never quit attitude of this team. I saw him miss a puck in our zone and recover skate behind the net and clear the puck when other lesser players would have quit on the play.

Offensively the team seemed to be clicking from the outset. With skilled defensemen such as Ken Mays, Joe Maude and Steve Frind moving the puck up the transition was for the most part smooth. Ernie Hamblin had a great game showing an "energizer bunny" type work ethic. He scored one goal and set up another. Mark Weiss showed up after being acquired for (2) 2nd round picks in next year's beginner draft and fit right in assisting on 2 goals and moving flawlessly in the offensive zone. Ric Kreppel playing with a badly injured rib contributed his first goal of the season. The second line Bob "Polish Rocket" Klowdawski, Dave "4 alarm" Blais and Matt "Money Whore" White did not show up in the scoring but kept Wharton out of the offensive zone all night.

Special Teams played exceptional Coaches advise to play 1-1-2 zone in penalty killing payed off. Ric "rico suave cha cha ching" Kreppel and Joe "wrong way" Redmond killed penalties like pros. The defense shut down Wharton at every opportunity.

Overall just a great game guys, I hope everyone had a great time. That is the reason we are here ..right?

GAME #2

Stew "Timex" Lee what more can you say them Stew showed up. Sick as a dog and throwing up the guy shows up to support the team. He not only takes every shift but he shuts the other team down every time they come down the ice. He wasnt the only defensemen who showed up. Ray Wheels Church continues to mature into a fine defenseman. He like Rob "The Doc" Tannen continue to look more and more comfortable out there both in the defensive end and offensively. Ray picked up his first point of the year and was looking to pick up more...kid looks like a playa! And of course all three revolve around the Steve "the general of defense" Frind . Steve just plays both of the ends of the ice like a pro..hell half the time we just cant get out of his way fast enough.

The game belonged to the defense. They were the reason we won this game period. They shut the Wildmen down and moved the puck up the ice...all any team could ask for.

Now the BIG question...which line will give up the first goal of the year!!
