Back Door Play- In this play, possession is gained by the LW at or below the offensive LW circle. The LW skates the puck out toward the blue line, while the LD switches down toward the outer hash marks of the left circle.
Back Door Play (cont'd)- The LD who has switched down receives the pass from LW who has rotated up to the vacated point position. To this point all action has been concentrated to the left side of the ice. During this time the RW has sneaked in behind the defense and now sits off the right post. The LD, now in possession of the puck has the choice to pass to the C in the slot or the RW just off the far post. One of the two should be wide open. |
